Have you ever thought about what happens after you flush the toilet?
And what happens to water that goes down the sink?
The water that goes down the toilet, or is washed down the bathroom or kitchen sink is called wastewater. When you flush your toilet or wash something down the sink, this wastewater is carried away from your home through a network of pipes.
To help the wastewater on its journey the pipes connect to a pumping station that gives a little boost to keep it moving. The pumping stations also have a screening process that removes any solids.
Once it has reached its final destination it is pumped out into lagoon via an outfall pipe.
