Some things should never go down drains or toilets. Flushing the wrong things down the toilet, or putting strange substances down the drain, can affect our natural environment.
Certain waste products will cause blockages and clog up our sewerage system and pollute the lagoon. So make sure you following these simple tips.
Always put the following items into the bin:
- plastics and wrappers
- diapers and other similar products
- surgical bandages
- cotton buds
- razor blades
- syringes
- wet wipes
Never flush any of these items down the toilet or basin
- Wipe your pots and pans with paper towel after cooking.
- Pour fats and oils into a container and throw into the rubbish.
- Use a sink strainer to capture scraps.
- Put food scraps (peelings, tea leaves, coffee grounds, etc.) into bin or onto your garden .
Never put fats, oils, food scraps and other matter down the sink.
