If you have been on Ebeye over the last couple of weeks, you will have noticed a large machine going around town cleaning out the drains.
Kajur’s Project Management Unit Manager, Mr. Edward Bobo said that they had hired the Ministry of Public Works jetting machine for three weeks to clean the drainage and sewerage systems in preparation for CCTV inspections. “Before the inspections can take place we need to ensure that the pipes are all cleaned. The CCTV inspections will enable us to identify leaks and pipes that need replacing.”
Mr. Romeo Alfred, General Manager Kajur, said that in addition to hiring the Jetting Machine Public Works has provided experienced Jetting Operators, who are providing our staff with training on how to use the machine. “As part of our Quick Win funding from the Australian Government we have purchased our own jetting machine and a trailer- mounted vacuum unit. Using the Public Works jetter has been a great opportunity for our staff to obtain some hands-on training before we take possession of our machine.”
“Having our own jetting machine will enable us to schedule regular maintenance cleaning of the drains and sewers, said Mr. Alfred. This will be extremely beneficial for all Ebeye residents but especially those living in the Mid-Corridor area who currently experience flooding of their homes, during heavy rain periods.”
Mr. Alfred said that Kajur chose to do the jetting on the drainage system first so that they could alleviate the flooding issue experienced by some residents.
Under a AU$400,00 Australian government Quick Win funding, Kajur has purchased a jetter and vacuum unit and will soon be constructing two new salt water wells for Ebeye’s new RO plant.
